OPENING ACT

NEW INFIQC-CIQUIBIC BUILDING

The new INFIQC-CIQUIBIC – CONICET-UNC Building was inaugurated.

In an act headed by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyT) Daniel Filmus, the president of the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) Ana Franchi, the vice-rector of the National University of Córdoba (UNC) Mariela Marchisio and the Director of the CONICET Córdoba Scientific and Technological Center (CCT) María Angélica Perillo, the new INFIQC-CIQUIBIC – CONICET-UNC Building was inaugurated.

The building has five floors and will be inhabited by more than 200 people who carry out their activities in two Academic Departments of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences (FCQ) of the National University of Córdoba: the Department of Physicochemistry and the Department of Biological Chemistry Ranwel Caputto ; and two CONICET-UNC dual-dependency Executing Units: the Córdoba Physicochemical Research Institute (INFIQC) and the Córdoba Biological Chemistry Research Center (CIQUIBIC).

The work on the INFIQC-CIQUIBIC building began in 2014, with a duration of 9 years carried out in four stages. In each of these stages, the active participation of the Infrastructure and Planning Area dependent on the Secretary of Infrastructure, Security and Planning of the FCQ-UNC and the Secretary of Physical Planning of the UNC was of vital importance. To each of the people who make these spaces possible with their silent, constant and professional work, all our thanks.

Up to now, this construction has received an investment of more than 2,278 million pesos from CONICET and more than 322 million pesos from MINCyT Nación, to which must be added the economic and human resources contributions from the areas of physical planning of the FCQ-UNC and the UNC in the development of the different stages of the project.

The INFIQC-CIQUIBIC Building arises from the idea of Drs. Vicente Macagno and Hugo Maccioni, who gave the initial kick, and today it has become a symbol of institutional continuity. In this decade, many authorities have changed in CONICET, in the UNC, in the FCQ, in the Academic Departments, in the INFIQC and in the CIQUIBIC, and all of them have shown the highest institutional commitment to achieve this objective. This building was managed and is managed so that the people who will inhabit it can transform it into their academic home.

Today our Executing Unit adds a new space for research, teaching, linking and extension conceived and designed for this purpose, which, together with the existing spaces, pose a management challenge.

On behalf of the entire INFIQC community, thanks to all the people who made this dream possible.
